FIBA World Cup 2019 Teams, Squads, Rosters for Men’s Basketball Games

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 is in full swing. It’s going to be played from August 31 – September 15 in the year 2019. This time, The group stage is expanded from 24 to 32 teams and tournament is hosted in Country China (8 Cities). Total of 8 cities is included. Beijing, Foshan, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Dongguan, Nanjing, and Guangzhou are the main host cities for FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

There are 8 groups for the first round has been decided by FIBA. The tournament will be played in three stages. During the first stage, the 32 qualified teams will be sorted into eight groups of four (A-H) and each team in a group will play the other three teams once.

According to the rules, The top two teams from each group will then advance to the second group stage. In the second group stage, there will be four groups of four (I-L) made up of the teams that advanced from the first round, again playing each other once. The top two teams from groups I to L will qualify for the final knockout phase.

Group I To L of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be the second stage of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup for eight teams, top two teams from Group (A+B) belong to Groupn I, top two teams from Group (C+D) belong to J, top two teams from Group (E+F) belong to K and, top two teams from Group (G+H) belong L.

The results of round 1 are carried over. The teams will play against the teams from the group they have not faced before, for a total of two games per team, with all games played at Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park Gymnasium, Nanjing.

After all of the games are played, the top two teams will advance to Quarter-finals, the third placed team will be classified 9–12 and the fourth placed team will be classified 13–16.

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Teams, Groups (M To P) and Qualified Basketball Teams for 17th – 32nd Qualification

Group M To P of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be the classification stage of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup for 16th teams, bottom two teams from Group A and two from Group B and till the Group H respectively.

The results against the teams that also qualified are carried over. The teams will play against the teams from the group they have not faced before, for a total of two games per team, with all games played at Guangzhou Gymnasium, Guangzhou.

After all of the games are played, the first placed team will be classified 17–20, the second placed team will be classified 21–24, the third placed team will be classified 25–28 and the fourth placed team will be classified 29–32.

When is the FIBA World Cup 2019?

The 18th edition of the basketball world cup tournament begins on Saturday, August 31, and the fiba world cup 2019 final scheduled for Sunday, September 15.

The tournament was originally scheduled for 2018 but was moved to this year, marking the first time since 1967 that the FIBA World Cup has not been played in the same year as the FIFA World Cup.

Where is the FIBA World Cup?

The FIBA World Cup will be hosted by China this year, as the tournament returns to the Far East for the first time since it took place in Japan in 2006.

The 2019 edition of the World Cup will be played across eight venues in

Format

  • The tournament has been expanded from 24 to 32 teams, which are divided into eight groups of four.
  • Each team in a group will play the other three teams once, with the top two teams from each group advancing to a second group stage.
  • In the second phase, the 16 remaining teams will be split in four groups of four, with each team playing each other once.
  • The top two teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.

From then on, the tournament will follow a traditional knock-out stage format.

  • The World Cup will serve as a qualification tournament for the 2020 Olympic Games.
  • The top two teams from each of the Americas and Europe, and the top team from each of Africa, Asia and Oceania will qualify for the Olympics.
