The Russian national basketball team is the most powerful team for FIBA Basketball Worldcup. The Russian Team is managed by the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF). Russian national basketball team is very old and come to existence after the Soviet Union basketball team.
The Russian team were champions at EuroBasket 2007 and won bronze medals at EuroBasket 2011. This was the turning point for the team.
After Blatt left the staff, the team saw a deep crisis due to corruption and issue with FIBA. The team performed poorly at EuroBasket 2015 and that’s why team Russia did not qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The current head coach is Sergei Bazarevich.
Russia Basketball team is in the Group B of Fiba 2019 Championship in which total 6 matches is to be played & 3 matches will be played by each team in the group stages. The other 3 teams are Nigeria, Argentina & South Korea.
History Of Russia Basketball Team
Russia participated in EuroBasket 1993 Germany. The roster included famous players like Sergey Bazarevich, Dmitry Sukharev. Russia became runners-uu in EuroBasket 1993 Germany.
Sergey Belov became the new head coach after the EuroBasket and then team Russia took the 7th place. At the EuroBasket 2001, the Russians took the overall 5th place. Russia qualified for the quarterfinals the 2002 World Cup.

Team Russia won the EuroBasket 2007. At the 2008 Olympics, the Russian roster has strong players. In the first match, they defeated Iran. Team Russia got 24th place at the EuroBasket 2013.
