The Australian men’s national basketball team, known as the Boomers has announced the finalized 12 man Roster that will play in the upcoming fiba World Cup 2019. Australian team head coach Andrej Lemanis says he is pleased with the squad he has assembled and believes a team-first attitude will see them thrive for a victory in Spain.

The Boomers will meet for a training camp in late June, at which point the squad will be culled to 12 players ahead of the tournament in August. Most of the players that are added are from the NBA and NBL teams.


Australia Basketball team is in the Group H of Fiba 2019 Championship in which total 6 matches is to be played & 3 matches will be played by each team in the group stages. The other 3 teams are Canada, Senegal & Lithuania.

History Of Australian Basketball Team

Before The Formation Of The National Basketball League (NBL) in 1979, Australian Players were Selected from state league around the country. After the formation of NBL ( National Basketball League ), Players stated to be selected almost from that competition during the 1980s to 1990s.

The Boomers was not competing between 1950 to 1967. The Australian Basketball Team was started competing in 1970.
