The Argentina basketball team, officially nicknamed El Alma Argentina represents Argentina in international men’s basketball and is controlled by the Argentine Basketball Federation.
The Argentina team of Basketball in 2019 is the only national team in the Americas zone that has won the crown: FIBA World Cup first edition in 1950, Olympic Gold Medal in 2004, FIBA Diamond Ball in 2008, FIBA AmeriCup and Pan American Gold Medal in 1995. They have also won 13 South American Basketball Championships, as well as many youth championships.

History Of Argentina Basketball Team
The practice of basketball by Argentina team of Basketball was started by Asociación Cristiana de Jóvenes in 1912, with the first federation established to organize competitions not only in Buenos Aires but in several cities around Argentina.
In 1950 Argentina won its first and only World Championship after defeating France (twice), Brazil, Chile, Egypt and the United States in the decisive match. With the creation of the Liga Nacional de Básquet in 1980, a new generation of players of Argentina Basketball Team to moderate success in the 1986 World Championship where the squad defeated the United States for the first time in their history.
The year 2001 was the Golden year of Argentina Team of Basketball, winning first Argentina´s FIBA Americas Championship which is held in Neuquen, where they defeated all of its competitors in the competition. In the Year 2002, the Argentina Team made history by being the first team to defeat a United States Basketball Team composed entirely of NBA players during the FIBA World Championship 2002. Argentina Basketball Team reaches the final in first-time since 1950 in a first world championship.
The Argentina defeat a United States team with a full squad of NBA players. Argentina came second in FIBA 2013. Argentina reached the 1st position in the FIBA Men’s Ranking after the 2008 Olympic Games. Argentina is a founding member of the International Federation of Basketball (FIBA).
